Comeback?

Hi there!

Having read a couple of my friend’s half hearted blog attempts, I feel that it is time for me to return to the blogging scene. Although my life might not be as exciting and exotic as it was in Cambodia, I still think I can produce some qualitative blog posts.

So what’s new?

To begin with, I have now settled back home in Sweden. A big step for the international 19 year old that I consider myself to be. I have applied to several universities and am currently waiting for the admission results which should come out any day now. I have been working as a salesman for a field marketing company since early may so I have been standing in shopping malls and tried to recruit new donors to Save the Children Sweden. I work on commission so some days are better than others but overall it’s good money and it’s for a good cause so I can’t complain J

I am currently sitting on the train which will take me home from the ferry terminal in Nynäshamn. I was away for a week with my company, working on Sweden’s largest island Gotland, but am now almost home after a fun but tiring week.

I hope you have enjoyed my sporadic attempt of a comeback into the blogging community. Keep posted for new updates!

Hey,
I realise my rate of update on this blog has dropped below zero which is terrible. Frankly, my life isn’t as exciting now that I have returned home to Stockholm, Sweden. Sine I personally despise bloggers who write about their everyday lives, I have chosen not to become one and that’s why the posts haven’t been coming like the normally do.
Having spent 4 years abroad now, with regular visits back home to Sweden, I’m pretty used to the question: “How does it feel to be back?”
I have therefore developed a model answer which I respond with automatically whenever I get the question. “It feels really good to be home, but of course I miss it there”.
When I compare my time in Verbier to the 4.5 months I spent in Cambodia, the similarities are there but it’s the contrasts that stand out. I was teaching in both countries, only in Cambodia it was for free while I mainly worked for the money in Verbier. I taught some of the poorest kids in the world in Cambodia only to teach rich spoiled ones in Verbier.
To sum up, Cambodia was for others and Verbier was for myself. I think this mix is essential in order to maintain a decent lifestyle. If you forget to take care of yourself, you will not last very long in a demanding environment like Cambodia was. In the same way, I would feel guilty if I didn’t attempt to give something back. I have been so fortunate in my life and have never really had to fight like the people I met in Cambodia have to do on a regular basis.

Geneva + Birthday + Back to Work

Hey everyone

First things first, my apologies for the ridcolusy slow update rate. Unfortuantly, its what happens when you don’t have internet at home.

So whats new?
We have moved into our new accomodation, a 160m2 Chalet with all the ammenties we could dream of. Compared to what my friends are staying in and especially paying, our chalet is a steal. Almost a robbery!

I am currently in Geneva, visiting some family friends as well as writing an entry exam for my univiersity. Sort of the Swedish eqvivalent of an SAT. The test went okey, not as good as last time unfortuantly.

The weather in Verbier has been nothing but amazing, with 10 days of clear blue skies and temperatures in the upper 10s. During this week however, the heavens opened themselves for some much needed powder. We got 70-80cm during this week which should be enough to last us until the end of the season.

So tomorrow is the big day, MY big day when I grow one year older. The plans are to celebrate in our chalet and then hit the apres ski. The problem is that I start working again on Monday morning and then again on Tuesday morning and since it is a group lesson with children, I have to make sure Im on the top of my game.

Trouble In Paradise

So finally things are starting to get tough here in Verbier. Our 6week rental of our house finished so we had to look for our own accomodation for 2 weeks until we got our new place. I asked two of my Australian mates if I could stay with them and it was all good, until I found out that there would be 4 of us… on 12m2. Compact living to the max.

To make everything better, Ive become sick. I have a terrible cough, blocked nose, painful lungs and am generally feeling shit. Ive started with penicillin now and together with the cough medicine Im already taking, I should feel a lot better. Perfect, since its going to snow tonnes.

Thats right!
I was at the San Siro with my sister Fredrika, friend Josh and 85 000 others. Biggest game of life, largest game of my life and defiantly the most exilhuarting game of my life. Too bad there werent any goals.

Weather in Verbier now is great with clear blue skies and stunning sunlight. Ive only got private clients this week which means my job isnt too demanding and considering the level of my clients, I actually do enjoy it and I get paid to enjoy it so its all good

Parntal Units Means Free Dinners

Hey Everyone!
Verbier has been blessed with heaps of fresh powder over the past few days. Top that with some days of stunning blue skies and you have a very happy Gustav with the best Goggle tan the world has ever seen.

My family decided to pay me a visit and they arrived today after numerous delays. We enjoyed a nice dinner, restaurants arent really included in my normal weekly budget so it was heavenlike.

Verbier is packed and Ive got a couple of friends vissiting as well which should be fun.

Hey Everyone,
Verbier is amazing, weather is awesome and the only problem now, is the crowds. February is notrious for being the busiest month around here, meaning a lot of work for me, but also little time for me to ski myself.
My family have decided to pay me a visst next week and I also have friends coming over so it will be a great week

Winter Holidays Begin

So the winter holidays around Europe have begun, meaning tonnes of people and beer
The skiing is amazing and unbelivable its been snowing for 3 days straight and tomorrow, the sun should be shining on us.
I will start teaching on Thursday, should be fun

verbier is awesome, internet acess isnt

I had a better connection to the net when I was in Cambodia but thats life

Ive had some amazing offpiste runs and its been snowing like crayz since I got here so its been insane

until I manage to reach out to you faithful readers again, take cae and uyou are all very welcome to come down here for a week or two to experiance the magic
